Welcome to the Nevada Notice of Intent page
This is step #1You must fill out a notice of intent to Your district homeschool contact. Remember this is NOT an Application but a notification to the district. You have the legal right to homeschool, they can only require you to give them notification of it. You will not be denied because its law in Nevada parents can homeschool. In Washoe County you take your letter of intent to Barbara Creveling. She is in the new Supplemental credit/WOLF building at 440 Poplar Street 89512. It's behind the 9th street administration building. Their phone number is 333-6100. Their web address is: www.washoe.K12.nv.us/suppcreditYou can also fax your letter of intent to 775-333-5189Turn your letter of intent in before you pull your child out of school. If you pull them out during a crisis then get that letter of intent in that day. The principal can call truant officers and child protective services if you have not turned in your letter of intent and have proof that you did. Once you have proof you turned in your letter of intent they can't do anything to you. You most likely will never hear from the district again. It's very important to give your letter of intent to only a school district homeschool representative, not a school principal. If the principal doesn't turn it in to the district representative you pay the price and your child will be considered truant. Its worth it to physically take the letter of intent in yourself so you have that stamped letter indicating you turned it in. Otherwise it will be your word against the school district that it was done properly and within the legal time limit.Don't
expect anyone from WCSD to assist you with homeschooling issues.
They are there to take your letter of intent and give you a
stamped, formal letter that indicates you turned
it in.
Remember to keep that
stamped letter for your records.
